About The Holgate School

Holgate is an 11 to 18 comprehensive school located in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. It is an exciting time here at Holgate as we embark on our journey to become OFSTED rated “outstanding”. As part of our journey to “outstanding” status we are joining DALP (Diverse Academies Learning Partnership). Hucknall is a thriving community is based on a variety of industry ranging from the large Rolls Royce engineering works to a variety of small clothing firms. Hucknall also acts as a commuter town for the city of Nottingham with excellent transport into the city centre including Buses, The Tram and Train. Hucknall also has access to the M1 Holgate is situated between a 5 to 10 minute drive from Junction 27.

 

The school is well provided with full classroom accommodation together with two large assembly halls and 9 specialist Science laboratories and 6 specialist Technology areas including workshops and kitchens.  Our Art faculty is well provided for with 4 well equipped Music rooms, a Mac suite, 2 recording studios, 4 specialist art rooms and 3 well equipped Drama rooms.

 

The school has a Learning Resource Centres which includes a library and computer area, 2 Meeting Rooms and Staff Rooms. We also have a large common room for the sixth form and a separate sixth form computer suite.  There are considerable improvements been made to the school at the moment these include; a major refurbishment of windows, lights, toilets, fire alarms, building access and decoration also due to start is the construction of 4 new Science class rooms in a new block to be added to the school.

 

Our IT facilities are extensive with 8 dedicated ICT suites which allow staff in each faculty to book them when needed. All teaching staff have laptops and all rooms are served by wireless connection. In recent years additional laptops have been provided in some subject area.

 

The Holgate Sixth Form is continuing to grow in strength every year. More of our Year 13s are leaving with results that are securing good university places. The students are involved in many aspects of school life and are positive role model for younger pupils. Holgate Sixth Form students are provided with opportunities to help them develop the skills they will need in higher education and their careers.
